Progress through cipher levels with mastery grades and hints.
Solo mode is the core progression path. Each cipher level has a fixed digit length and a limited number of attempts. Your best result per level determines mastery and leaderboard score.
Before You Start
- Open the Ciphers tab and pick the highest unlocked cipher level.
- Each cipher length ranges from 5 to 12 digits.
- Attempts and hints are tuned per level and difficulty tier.
Step-by-Step Play
Choose a cipher level
Select a level from the Ciphers list. Locked levels require a win on the previous cipher to unlock.
Enter a full-length guess
Use the keypad to enter a guess that matches the cipher length. Submit when the row is filled.
Read the feedback
Each digit returns feedback: correct position, present in the code but misplaced, or absent.
Use hints when needed
Hints reveal an exact digit and lock its position. Locked digits cannot be edited or deleted.
Finish the run
Solve the cipher before attempts run out to complete the level. If attempts reach zero, the run ends.
Understanding the Screen
Guess grid
Rows represent attempts. Each row shows digit feedback after submission.
Attempt counter
Tracks how many guesses remain for the current cipher.
Hint status
Shows available hints and locks revealed positions once used.
Keypad
Use digits 0-9 plus delete and submit actions.
Win, Lose, or Complete
- Win by entering the exact secret number before attempts run out.
- Lose when all attempts are used without solving the cipher.
- Your best clear for the level becomes the stored mastery result.
Scoring and Results
- Solo leaderboards use mastery grade (bronze/silver/gold) plus a speed bonus for faster clears.
- The best solve time for each cipher level contributes to your aggregate score.
Tips
Tip 1
Use early guesses to eliminate digits; treat the first row as reconnaissance.
Tip 2
Locking a digit with a hint reduces uncertainty, but hints are limited.
Tip 3
When a digit is marked absent, avoid reusing it in future guesses.
